Soviet Hen and Chicks and ROF 1 Guns

As many of you will have seen already in the latest issue of Wargames Illustrated there is an article covering the two new eastern front compilations, Red Bear and Grey Wolf. Today I am going to walk you through the two changes to the Soviet forces we have made, Hen and Chicks and the reduction in points to ROF 1 weapons.

First, lets look at the new Hen and Chicks rule as it will appear in Red Bear.

Hen and Chicks
If a Platoon Command team moves in the Movement Step, all of the Tank and Transport teams in its platoon (Soviet company) must move as well. If the Platoon Command team does not move, only Tank and Transport teams that started the Movement Step Out of Command may move. Any vehicle that moves adds +1 to the score required to hit when shooting with its main gun. This gives a cumulative penalty of +2 for ROF 1 weapons. Though machine-guns and Flame-throwers do not suffer this penalty. (Aposto que a malta dos ISU-122 e 152 vai adorar isto, mas é claro que desceu nos pontos)

Over the years we have had plenty of feedback on the old Hen and Chicks rule, most of it being that is didn’t entirely capture the flavour of the Soviet tankers and it was hard for the beginners to come to grips with. The aim of the new rule is to make it simpler and reflect Soviet tank warfare better.

The new rule retains the ‘if one moves, all move’ aspect of the old rule, but allows the Tankovy to keep pressing forward and keep shooting without the movement penalty of the old rule. Now you can move your full move and shoot at ROF 1, but with a +1 to the score required to hit. As before this rule only applies to units affected by Hen &Chicks.

As Soviet tanks with Hen and Chicks now have more firepower on the move we have taken this into account and increased the points of these tanks, such as T-34/85 and Emcha Sherman tanks. Your force, if mostly made up of tanks, will probably have less tanks Twisted Evil

or changes to your support but they will be more effective on the move and easier to use.

Soviet ROF 1 Weapons
During testing and listening to feedback over the last few years as well as the additional +1 penalty for ROF 1 weapons moving with a ROF 1 weapon requires a lowering of points for those weapons to reflect their effectiveness and purpose in the game.

So now you will see that a number of ROF 1 vehicles and gun teams have come down in points. Points have come down on the SU-100, ISU-122 and ISU-152 among others.

este livro vai sair no final do ano e é o livro para os soviéticos em late war - na verdade são 4 livros: o stalins europe + river of heroes + stalins onslaught + ...??? (não me lembro...)

Citação :: CHANGES TO TANKRIDERS: Okay first of all they are now called "Tank Escorts". Tank Escorts are no longer seperate teams. They can never dismount, nor can they be killed individually (in either shooting or assaults). So they're basically an upgrade to the tank. Citação :: German Train! This train is available to most of the "vanilla" lists. There's 2 options: A captured Polish train, and a purpose built BP44 German train. The Polish one has basically the same options as it does in early War, except it's cheaper and confident veteran. It can have a Panzergrenadier platoon in the infantry car which can add mortars and pioneers. Both trains can also add 2 Anti-Tank cars which is a Panzer IV turret on a chassis. The BP44 train can get positively HUGE. You can have 2 AAA cars and 2 Artillery cars (which nets you 2 bombardments- an AAA car has a 10.5cm which pairs with an artillery car to fire the 10.5cms). Then you can add an infantry car... THEN you can add a staff car... THEN you can add 2 AT cars. In all, including the locomotive, the German train can have 8 cars! You can also get 2 38(t)s as an escort.
