Spearhead is a new way to play Warhammer 40,000 that enables you to unleash exciting tank battles and daring breakthrough missions on the tabletop, bringing the full mechanised fury of the 41st Millennium to bear in your games. June's White Dwarf will contain the main part of the supplement, including new rules, missions and plenty of inspirational hobby advice. Alongside this, the Games Workshop website will feature additional material exclusively for registered members, such as details of how to assemble your Spearhead formations along with even more painting, modelling and collecting tips.

As if a whole new Expansion wasn't exciting enough, it's going to be accompanied by a range of new miniatures including some stunning new plastic kits – more details of these kits, and the Spearhead Expansion, will follow in White Dwarf and here on the Games Workshop website.

A word of advice, however – because it contains a new Expansion, June's White Dwarf promises to be very popular. If you're not already a subscriber now's probably a very good time to correct that, and to register on the Games Workshop website to hear all the news first.

The manafactorums have been working overtime this past year to supply the frontline regiments with tanks to pound the enemies of the Imperium into dust. This summer they're stepping up production once more as yet more vehicles rumble off the production lines.

Not to be outdone by the Imperial Guard, the Bonesingers of the enigmatic Eldar have begun to craft new and elegant vehicles. In June the Eldar are gaining several new plastic kits, including a brand new tank. Missions/Rules

Different deployment from natural missions. Possibly from the short table edge as vehicles are naturaly fast.

No FOC, just vehicles and montrous creatures can be taken

Special rules allowing vehicles/montrous creatures to take objectives.

Models
No actual models have been officially confirmed, however reports are indicating the following are likely candidates.

Imperial Guard:

Leman Russ/Standard/Vanquisher/Exterminator/Eradicator: Similar to the Demolisher kit the new kit will be capable of creating the remaining Leman Russ variants currently without a model. Will probably increase in price to match the Demolisher kit

Manticore/Deathstrike: Hybrid kit combining the two 'missile launcher' vehicles from the codex. Expected to cost the the same as a Demolisher kit. As you can see on the White Dwarf cover the Manticore shown does not resemble the Forgeworld model but the model from epic. THis will alow the deathstrike and manticore to be built from the same kit.

Eldar:
Fire Prism/Nightspinner: Full plastic Kit. Fire Prism crystal/turret is said to get a redesign making it slimmer and more in line with the Forgeworld MkII superheavy tanks. Nightspinner will have rules within the white dwarf for use in eldar armies. Probable price decrease to match the Demolisher Kit.

Well, if you have played Cities of Death, Planetstrike or the daddy of them all, Apocalypse, then you will know just how exciting and different playing games using Warhammer 40,000 can be (if you haven't, then take this opportunity; you won't be disappointed). If you love Warhammer 40,000 then I expect that tanks and the heavy weaponry that they pack were one of the things that drew you to the game in the first place. If you combine both of these you get Spearhead, the Warhammer 40,000 Expansion that lets you field as many tanks, walkers and monsters as you can possibly fit on your table and gives you extra gaming benefits for doing so. Looking around the office over the last few days and seeing the anticipatory grin on everyone's faces I would say that it doesn't get much more exciting than that.

Which brings me nicely onto...

Today isn't just confirmation of how and when to get your hands on Spearhead; more importantly it's also your chance to advance order some of the best and most dynamic tank kits that we have ever produced.

Over the past year we have released a number of new tank models for the Imperial Guard including the Leman Russ Demolisher and the Hellhound, but none of these can compare, in both look and sheer weight of devastation carried on the back, to the Manticore/Deathstrike. This kit builds either a Deathstrike Missile Launcher or a Manticore Rocket Launcher and it includes options for both Cadian and Catachan crewmen allowing you to tailor your model to your own army. Both weapons have a Strength of 10 with a blast radius perfect for taking out packed units of infantry, but what amazed me most was the range - a massive 120 inches for the Manticore and an unlimited range for the Deathstrike. Talk about he who strikes first strikes hardest; perfect for games of Apocalypse and Spearhead. Also available for Advance Order today is the Leman Russ Battle Tank which contains weapon options to make a Leman Russ, Leman Russ Eradicator, Leman Russ Exterminator or Leman Russ Vanquisher and Knight Commander Pask who can be added to the turret of any Imperial Guard tank and gives you a +1 to armour penetration rolls.
